Day 1-2
AIRPORT LJUBLJANA – LJUBLJANA
Your guide will take you to meet the most local tour possible. You will get to know Ljubljana from the point of view of 3 historical men that influenced the history and the image of Ljubljana greatly. During this unique visit you will be walking along the shore of the Liublianica River, which crosses the old town, with its many original bridges, among which is also the Dragon Bridge – the symbol of the city. You will see the Congress Square, visit the famous national library, built exclusively from the material of the area, the cathedral and the main square of Ljubljana – “Prešernov trg”, which is next to the three bridges and the Franciscan church built in the Baroque style.
After that we can organize you a lunch in one of few stylish restaurants recommended by Gault & Millau Slovenia. Afternoon free to enjoy the capital at your own pace, have a coffee in one of the many bars or restaurants that surround the river, go shopping, enjoy music from street musicians that abound along the promenade and try some street food if you feel adventurous, etc.
In the evening you will to the Castle of Ljubljana reached by funicular. From there you can enjoy majestic views of the capital and its historic center. And dress up because the castle tower is also the location of the most prestigious restaurant in Ljubljana where you will have dinner with the full view of the city below you.
Day 3
LJUBLJANA – PTUJ – MARIBOR – LJUBLJANA
You will pass through Ptuj, the oldest city in Slovenia. One of the most famous images of Ptuj is its mythical castle that is next to the river. After lunch in one of the local typical restaurants recommended by Gault & Millau, you will continue to the city of Maribor located to the northwest, between vineyards and green valleys and is known for its white wines, urban community gardens, pedestrian streets, squares full of lovely terraces, natural environments and a beautiful urban park. Maribor is home to the oldest vine in the world so after the stroll through the city there comes the obligatory visit of the Old Vine House where you will have private tasting of typical wines and a special wine made from the grapes that grow on this famous vine.
Day 4
LJUBLJANA – LAKE BLED – BOVEC
The alpine area tour will start with the famous Lake Bled where you will take the traditional boat ride to the island and continue to the Bled Castle from where you will enjoy incredible panoramic views over the lake and the Alps during lunch in the restaurant with the best view in Slovenia. Later you will continue crossing panoramic road of Vrsic pass to get to Bovec. Accommodation in a unique glamping.
Day 5
BOVEC – SOCA RIVER VALLEY– GORISKA BRDA
After reach local breakfast, departure from Bovec following the flow of the “emerald” Soca River. Here you will have two options – a trip into the history. You will reach Kobarid, to get to know the border zone of World War I. This area was part of the Alto Soca Valley of the Isonzo Front. Here they were fighting, suffering and dying men from different nations. From this time several relics have been preserved, such as trenches, fortifications, caves, monuments, military cemeteries… In Kobarid you will optionally visit the Museum of the First World War.
Or you can decide for a more active adrenalin adventure like rafting or ziplinning through the narrow valleys, or paragliding or even parachuting over this incredible area.
After a full morning you will have lunch at Hisa Franko, one of the 50 best restaurants in the world and the restaurant of the best female chef of 2017 (1). After lunch you will visit one of the richest wine regions of Slovenia – Goriska Brda with its endless hills and the refreshing air. You will see the largest winery in the region and have the opportunity to taste the typical wines of this part of Slovenia with Slovenian “tapas”. Accommodation in a typical villa in Goriska Brda.
Day 6
GORISKA BRDA – VIPAVA VALLEY – POSTOJNA CAVE – PIRAN
You will visit the Goče village in Vipava Valley that is part of the cultural heritage and is surrounded by vineyards, narrow streets and stone houses (among top 10 destinations according to Lonely Planet in 2018). After wine tasting you will have a private tour with a unique concert in the underground world of the longest touristic cave in Europe – Postojna cave.
Day 7-8
PIRAN – SEČOVLJE SALT PANS – AIRPORT
Just before Croatian border you will pass through Slovenian Secovlje saltpans to see some of the oldest salt pans in the world and taste the most amazing flour of sal. Here you will be able to also relax a bit in its unique spa center. And after that, for lunch, you will also have the chance to see first-hand how the world’s best Fonda sea bases are bread and get the freshest taste of it.
